Evaluation of time response of GMS for soil suction measurement

The Granular Matrix Sensor (GMS) is an indirect method for soil suction measurement. Since GMS comparatively inexpensive, robust and usually provide continuous data, it a natural candidate civil engineering practice. sensor has been used mainly irrigation purposes, also some activities. Questions about its effectiveness reliability are still posed, making studies this topic desirable. This study presents laboratory comparison between Watermark ordinary tensiometer during equilibrium period wetting procedure performed in compacted sandy silt (residual of gneiss). results yielded that may equivalent values context no significant water content variation. However, takes longer time to obtain stabilized values. During the procedure, presented delay 2 h detecting while detection was almost instantaneous.
